October Photo Diary

Submitted by on October 1, 2010 – 8:01 pmNo Comment

Just to keep things fair and balanced, I thought it was time to feature a cat, this kitten belongs to a family I was taking family portrait shots for…the whole family included this little guy and his brother. It was a very entertaining evening producing some very funny shots…and some lovely ones fit for the mantelpiece rather than a comedy gallery! Next month will see me try a pet portrait day in a local country store…I approach this one with some trepidation!

Scarlet warning to all, the classic toadstool of fairytale and fable, lacking only an elf sitting on top! Mind you if you ate one you may well start seeing elves and fairies, but I really would not recommend trying as I gather they are very unpredictable and can be fatal in even relatively small quantities. I find fungi fascinating, the almost magical way they appear from nowhere, in a myriad of impossible shapes and colours. Of course the fact many are very good to eat is also of much interest, though I admit to be nervous of picking most but chanterelles. Fungi foraging in damp misty woodland, the essence of Autumn and a time of year I love.

Mister Boe continues to cause havoc in my life, a move of field turned him into stressed out hyperactive unmanageable horse, for two weeks I was dealing with an almost impossible horse and beginning to despair. He cause so much trouble we were banished back to the previous field…where he breathed a visible sigh of relief, calmed right down and turned back into the sweet horse I’d first come to know (unless it’s raining when he’s grumpy!). The reason? Beats me and every trainer I’ve spoken to…we can only guess. Life with horses is always guaranteed to keep you on your toes anyway! Now he’s chilling nicely, and we our our re-flocked (stuffed) saddle back and I look forward to many peaceful hours touring the local country side with him. Then there’s training him to stand stock still while I take photographs whilst riding…

Wishing you all good hope and sunshine for October
Verity
